Orange

Bought some Tangerines that were on SALE! Woo! Being broke is nothing new, but being broke and on my own is a whole different beast entirely. I'm learning new skills like how to eat when I barely have $100 left over from working to feed myself per month and how to juggle three different credit cards so I can also afford my $1100/month tuition fees. 

Oh well, life goes on. I'm grateful for all I have and am pushing myself harder than ever before just to survive. 

I am still working on the comic about the Balloon at the Carnival, if anyone has ideas for a title leave them in the comments because I have no idea what I will title it as. More on that in future posts, probably next week or this weekend.

I reached 70 characters for my Muni People series! If you have been following me on Instagram you have had a front row seat to the entire thing! I slowed down a bit on them because I started to draw anyone and everyone just to reach 100, but when I did that they turned out to not be as special as the others, so if I'm lagging on those, that is why. Although last night a asian guy made a face at me so I'll post that and more on here either later tonight or tomorrow.

ADVENTURE TIME!

Our Comic Book Club at AAU has been doing these weekly drawing challenges and I recently decided to take part. This weeks challenge was ADVENTURE TIME!!!

I almost didn't enter into this challenge because I rarely can come up with anything clever for this. Seeing as how I've been a little home sick in this cold weather, that San Francisco names its Summer, I noticed a lot of my work has been resembling warm weather like back home. 

This drawing is special to me because of that reason and I created this Adventure Time piece with my yearning in mind. This piece resembles a certain suntan lotion I grew up using and the illustration on the front is rather iconic. Let me know if you can guess it!

For me it's a fun little unlimited creative exercise where you gain immediate feedback. I really enjoy that you simply have a square format to work with and a few filters to choose from, or not, to emphasize your image. It's a great way to get your work out there and it's linked to twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc.

I was looking through my comics folder to see what I have done over the past year and I have grown astronomically in my skill set and story telling. Crazy! I'll show you what I'm talking about soon.

Toned Paper

Please ignore the large donut shaped person!!

The well dressed gentleman in this drawing was a kid I sat next to/near whilst bleeding empathy for how cool he was and deeming myself utterly unworthy of being his *pew mate.  I sadly hav forgotten his name but I shall not forget his sense of style or how my jaw dropped when he told me of his success. Three degrees I believe it was, civil engineering, something else, and now architecture. He new everything there was to know about every car ever created, he knew everything about films from director, to photography managers, to actors/actresses, to the drama that happened on set. I'm pretty sure he was just a walking encyclopedia of suaveness. Another thing- other artists will love this- his profile.. DID NOT MATCH HIS FRONTAL VIEW! It was like a whole other person. (which is kinda why and how we met)

This is just a sketch done on toned paper while at work. Was pleased with how the copic marker created a shadow. I'm trying to play with various styles. 

Beetles Don't Go to School, Or do they?

Today was the first day of class and I spent class drawing a beetle instead of paying attention but I know what the assignment is so it's all good. Will post more stuffs later. I have a lot to show you all. :D

Also, I've been writing some short stories for the Anthology that my roommate, a friend, and I are producing this Fall for APE. I may post some sneak peeks if you're good. ;)

There is an assailant amongst us, his name is Midterm Mo. I must say he has assaulted me more than I can handle this week.

What I am most concerned about is something that I put no concern or effort into at all, my Art History exam. I feel confident that I did fairly well on the true/false and the multiple choice.. but that was only 20 points worth on the test. Out of the two options for compare and contrast essays.. I knew the images, had reviewed them before I left to go take the test, and then blanked when I had to write the essay. I only remembered details from one of the images, a page and a half, in very large handwriting, was describing the one image (The Fall of Man by Albrecht Durer) and my take on it. The rest was about Betty Page for some reason. o.O

I entered the exam with confidence as I drew the back of a girls head in front of me on my test, then bombed the 80 point essay. Awesome -_-

Good news is.. I now have more of an understanding of how a plaid pattern is created. You take checkers.. give them some tequila.. there you go. Drunk checkers.

I just want to sleep.. I am too lazy to upload photos today. I'll take pictures and show you the watercolor of my sister I did today, tomorrow.

Here's the unfinished drawing for my zombie zoo keeper. I like it for the most part, Charles Lister showed me how to place tears in clothing which was very helpful. So here ya go, I suppose I will post the progress of this.

She's carrying a half eaten penguin. :]
